Draw the word, guess the doodles, outscore your friends. Play Draw and Guess free, a party game for 2 to 8 players. Sketch a word while friends race to guess it, online with a link or on one phone.
How to play
One player draws, everyone else guesses. Everyone draws once per round, over two rounds, or one round with six or more players.
On your turn you get three words to choose from: everyday things like a samosa, a kite, an auto rickshaw or a cricket bat. Pick one and you have 75 seconds to draw it. You get eight colours, an eraser, three brush sizes, Undo and Clear (Undo even brings back a cleared board). Pictures only: no letters or numbers.
Online with friends
Create a room, send the link, and each friend plays on their own phone or computer, watching the drawing appear stroke by stroke.
Guessers type on the on-screen keyboard, or a real one on a computer. The word shows as blanks with its letter count, and one letter is revealed at 40 seconds and another at 60 (short words get one). Wrong guesses only appear on your own screen, so nobody can copy you, and you get a Close! hint when you are just one letter off. When someone gets it, everyone sees “Blue guessed it!”.
A turn ends when everyone has guessed or time runs out, and the word is shown to all before the next player draws. If the drawer doesn’t choose within 20 seconds, a word is picked for them.
On one phone
Pass the phone around. Before each turn a cover screen says “Only Red looks!”, so only the drawer sees the word choices. Everyone else shouts out guesses. The drawer taps the names of players who got it in the order they guessed, or “Nobody got it”, and passes the phone on. Hold the eye button to peek at your word.
Scoring
- Online: a correct guess scores 100 points at the start of the turn, dropping steadily to 40 at the end. Guess faster, score more.
- On one phone: the first player to guess scores 100, then 80, 65, 55, 50 and 45, and anyone after that scores 40.
- The drawer earns half of what each guesser scored, so a clear, quick drawing pays off for the artist too.
After the last turn the final scoreboard appears and the highest score wins. If someone leaves an online game and doesn’t come back within 30 seconds, they are out: their drawing turn ends straight away and they can’t win. With fewer than two players left, the game ends.
Tips
- Start with the big shape. An outline of the whole thing beats a perfect detail.
- Use colour as a clue. Yellow and orange say mango faster than any amount of shading.
- Watch the blanks. Two words, four and eight letters? That narrows it down.
Fun for the whole group
Draw and Guess suits family evenings, classrooms and video calls. Nobody needs to draw well: the worst pictures make the funniest rounds. Every player has a colour and a shape, so colour-blind players can follow the scores too.
