Hide your fleet, call your shots, sink theirs first. Fleet Strike is a free 2 player naval strategy game. Hide five ships on a 10x10 grid, then trade shots on one phone, online with a friend or vs the computer.
How to play
Each player hides a fleet of five ships on a 10 by 10 grid of open sea: one ship five squares long, one of four, two of three and one of two. Ships sit in straight lines, across or down, and never overlap. Then you take turns firing at your rival’s waters, one square at a time, and try to sink every ship before they sink yours.
Placing your fleet
Your fleet starts in a random layout. Shuffle deals a new one. Drag a ship to move it and tap it to turn it between across and down. A ship that won’t fit shakes and stays put. When you like your layout, press Ready. On a computer you can also use the arrow keys to move the dashed ship, Tab to pick another, R to turn it, S to shuffle and Enter for Ready.
Firing
On your turn the big grid shows the enemy’s waters. Tap a square to fire. You can press and slide to aim, and let go to shoot. On a computer, hover and click, or use the arrow keys and Space.
- A white splash is a miss.
- A burning marker is a hit.
- When every square of a ship has been hit, it is sunk and its outline appears on the grid.
Turns always alternate. A hit does not earn an extra shot, so every turn is one shot each. Your own fleet sits in the small grid below, showing every shot your rival has fired at you, and the panel beside it counts the ships each side has left. The first player to sink the whole enemy fleet wins.
One phone, online or vs the computer
On one phone, a “Pass to” screen appears between turns so neither player sees the other’s fleet. Hand the phone over, look away, and tap when ready.
Online, every player places and fires from their own phone. Your fleet never leaves your device during the game: it sends a sealed fingerprint of your layout when you press Ready, and answers each shot itself. At the end both fleets are revealed and every phone checks that every answer was honest. If a fleet doesn’t match, the result is void.
Switch the second seat to CPU to play the computer. It hunts across the sea in a checkerboard pattern, and once it scores a hit it works around that square and follows the line until the ship goes down.
Tips
- Spread out. Ships packed together let one lucky hit lead to the next.
- Hunt on a checkerboard. Every ship covers at least two squares, so firing at every other square finds them all with half the shots.
- Finish what you start. After a hit, try the four squares around it, then follow the line.
A round takes about ten minutes. Hide well and aim better!
