Flip cards, find pairs and out-remember your friends. Memory Match is a free card pairs game for 1 to 4 players on one phone. Flip two cards, find matching icons and collect the most pairs to win.
How to play
A grid of face-down cards hides pairs of matching icons: stars, hearts, bolts, moons, leaves and more, each on its own colour. On your turn, tap a card to flip it over, then tap a second card. If the two icons match, you keep the pair and play again. If they don’t, the cards stay visible for a moment and then flip back, and the turn passes to the next player. Remember what you saw, because every card turned up is a clue for everyone.
You can play with 2, 3 or 4 people passing the phone around. There is no computer opponent in this game, because the fun is in out-remembering the people next to you. On a computer, click the cards, or move a highlight with the arrow keys and press Space to flip.
Scoring
- Each matched pair is worth one point, shown next to your name at the top.
- Matched cards stay face up with your colour around them, plus your player shape in the corner, so everyone can see who found what.
- When the last pair is found, the player with the most pairs wins. If two or more players finish level, the game calls it a tie.
Playing solo
Choose 1 player on the setup screen and the game becomes a personal challenge. There are no turns to pass, so it counts your moves (every pair of flips is one move) and the time on the clock. When you clear the board the end screen says Cleared! with your moves and time. Try to beat them next round.
Board sizes
Pick the number of cards before you start:
- 4 x 4 has 8 pairs, a quick round of a couple of minutes.
- 4 x 5 has 10 pairs, a little longer.
- 6 x 6 has 18 pairs and really tests your memory.
Tips
- Look at every card that gets turned over, including your rivals’ misses. Those are free information.
- Group by position. Remember a card by its corner or row, not only by its icon.
- Start in one corner and flip new cards systematically, so you know which parts of the board are still unexplored.
- If you know where a pair is, flip one of them first and then its partner: a sure match keeps you in the game.
Why it’s fun
Memory Match is simple enough for the whole family and gives everyone an equal chance, because nothing beats a sharp eye. A quick game fits into a coffee break, and with the 6 x 6 board it is a proper brain workout.
