Grab weapon boxes and smash karts in a 10-player arena. Kart Rumble is a free online kart battle game for 2 to 10 players. Grab mystery boxes for rockets, mines and spikes, and smash karts with friends or bots.

How to play

Kart Rumble is a top-down battle arena for up to 10 karts. There is no finish line: you drive around a walled arena, grab mystery boxes, and use what is inside to smash the other karts before the clock runs out.

On a phone, hold it sideways. Put your left thumb down anywhere on the left half and point it where you want to go: the kart turns that way and speeds up the further you push. Tap anywhere on the right half, or the big fire button, to use your weapon. If your nose is stuck against a wall, point back the way you came and the kart reverses out by itself. On a computer, W or the up arrow drives, S or down brakes and then reverses, A and D steer, and Space uses your weapon. Tab shows the scoreboard.

Drive through a ? box to get a random weapon. You carry one at a time, so use it before you can pick up another. Boxes come back a few seconds after someone takes them, and glowing arrow pads on the floor give you a burst of speed.

Weapons

  • Rocket: one shot that curves onto the nearest kart in front of you.
  • Blaster: 30 quick shots. Hold fire to keep shooting.
  • Mines: three mines dropped behind you. They arm after a moment and never hurt you.
  • Spikes: for five seconds you are faster and smash any kart you touch.
  • Shield: a bubble that blocks all damage for six seconds.
  • Big Bomb: slow, with a huge blast. Keep your distance, it can hurt you too.
  • Freeze Ray: two shots that freeze a kart in a block of ice. Ram a frozen kart to shatter it.

Scoring

Every smash scores a point. Wrecking yourself with your own blast costs a point, unless a rival damaged you first, in which case they get it. When time runs out (2, 3 or 5 minutes) the kart with the most points wins. In Teams mode it is Red against Blue, and every smash counts for your team.

Health comes back on its own if you stay out of trouble for a few seconds. After a smash you are back in under three seconds, with a short moment of protection while your kart blinks.

Tips

  • Grab a box first, then go hunting. An empty kart can only run away.
  • Drop mines on a kart that is chasing you, or around a box you know others want.
  • Save the shield for when a rocket or a bomb is coming your way.
  • Frost Yard is slippery: brake early and drift round the crates.

You can play alone against computer karts on one phone, or create an online room and send the link so up to 10 friends play from their own phones. Empty seats can be filled with computer drivers.
