Gale Glider

Ride the wave of gaps from day into dusk. Gale Glider is a free tap to fly game. Flap a little paper glider through gaps in rounded pillars, learn the rhythm of the wave and see how far you get.

How to play

You steer a small paper glider that is always pulled downward. Tap anywhere (or press Space) to give it a quick lift and a little nose-up tilt, then let it drift down again. Keep tapping in short rhythmic bursts to stay level, and guide the glider through the gap between each pair of rounded pillars.

The game starts in a calm ready state with the glider bobbing in place. Nothing moves until your first tap, so take a breath and get set.

Scoring

  • You earn 1 point for every pair of pillars you fly past.
  • The run ends the moment the glider touches a pillar, the ground or the ceiling.
  • Your best score is saved on this device.

The twist: a readable rhythm

The gaps are not placed at random. Their heights follow a smooth wave, rising and falling from one pair of pillars to the next. The size of the swings and the speed of the wave change gradually as you go, and a little randomness is mixed in so no two runs are the same. A faint dotted line links the middle of each gap, so you can see the next few swings coming and tap to match them instead of reacting at the last moment.

As you progress

  • The gaps get slightly narrower for the first few dozen pairs, then stop shrinking.
  • The scroll speed picks up slowly and eventually levels off.
  • The sky shifts from bright daytime through sunset to a starry dusk as your score climbs, and the hills and clouds drift past at different speeds.

Tips

  • Tap in short, even bursts. Each tap lifts you a fixed amount, so steady rhythm beats frantic tapping.
  • Follow the dotted line. If it is about to dip, ease off the taps early.
  • Aim for the middle. Staying near the centre of each gap leaves room to correct on both sides.
  • Do not fear the ceiling. It ends the run, but a gentle hover near the top is rarely needed.

Why it’s fun

Gale Glider is a classic one-tap challenge with a more musical feel. Once you start to see the wave, the pillars stop feeling like surprises and start feeling like a tune you can play along with. Runs are short, restarts are instant, and the changing sky gives every attempt a sense of travelling somewhere.
