Neon Snake

A glowing snake game for swipes and fast reflexes. Neon Snake is a free classic snake game with a glowing neon look. Swipe to steer, eat dots to grow, chase golden bonus dots and avoid the walls.

How to play

You steer a glowing snake around a tall grid. The snake is already lined up and waiting, so swipe in any direction (or press an arrow key or W, A, S, D) to start it moving. After that it keeps going on its own, and you turn it with a swipe.

You do not need to lift your finger between turns. Keep dragging and change direction as often as you like. Quick turns are remembered, so two swipes in a row will make two turns one after another. The snake cannot turn back on itself, so a swipe straight backwards is ignored.

Eat the pink dots to grow longer. The run ends if the head hits a wall or any part of your own body. Moving into the spot your tail is just leaving is fine, so tight loops are possible.

Scoring

  • A pink dot is worth 1 point and makes the snake one cell longer.
  • Every so often a golden dot appears. It is worth 5 points and makes the snake two cells longer, but it only stays for a few seconds. A ring around it shrinks to show how long is left, and it blinks just before it vanishes.
  • A golden dot only shows up after you have eaten a few pink ones, and never while another golden dot is on the board.
  • The snake gets faster with every pink dot you eat, up to a top speed. The first few dots are gentle, so you have time to find your rhythm.

Tips

  • Plan two moves ahead. Because swipes are remembered, you can set up the next turn before the snake reaches the corner.
  • Use the edges carefully. Hugging a wall saves space, but a mistake there ends the run instantly.
  • Leave room for the tail. The longer you get, the more your body becomes the main obstacle. Make wide, steady curves rather than tight zigzags.
  • Go for gold when it is safe. Five points is tempting, but a risky dash into a corner is rarely worth it.

Why it’s fun

Neon Snake takes an old favourite and gives it a bright, smooth look. The snake glides between cells, the tail fades into the dark, and every dot bursts with light. Each run is short, your best score is saved on your device, and beating it always feels within reach.
