Fly, aim and blast in a 10-player jetpack battle. Jetpack Brawl is a free 2D multiplayer jetpack shooter. Fly with a jetpack, grab guns and grenades, and battle up to 10 friends online or CPU soldiers.

How to play

Jetpack Brawl is a side-on battle for up to 10 soldiers, each with a jetpack, a pistol and two grenades. The arenas are much wider than your screen: a sunset canyon, neon city rooftops and a jungle outpost, full of ledges, tunnels and open sky.

On a phone, hold it sideways and use both thumbs:

  • Left stick: push left or right to run. Push up to fire the jetpack, a little to hover or all the way to climb. Pull down to drop faster.
  • Right stick: aim anywhere. Push it past the dashed ring and your gun fires by itself.
  • Buttons: Grenade, Swap (switch guns, or take the gun you stand on) and Punch. With the sniper rifle a Zoom button appears.

Each stick appears wherever your thumb lands on its half of the screen. On a computer, use A and D to run, W or Space to fly, the mouse to aim, click to fire, Q to swap, G for a grenade, F to punch and E for the sniper zoom.

Fuel drains while you fly and refills as soon as you land. Tap the score at the top for the full scoreboard.

One phone is the training mode: you are the red soldier and every other seat is a CPU soldier. Online, send the room link and each friend plays on their own phone. If someone leaves, the computer takes over their soldier.

Rules

  • Everyone has 100 health, which slowly comes back after five seconds without a hit.
  • Guns lie around the map: the Buzzer (fast, sprays a little), the Scatter (seven pellets, deadly up close), the Longshot (long range, zooms the camera out) and the Boomtube (rockets that blast). Your Popper pistol never runs out.
  • You carry the pistol and one more gun. Walk over a gun to pick it up, or press Swap while standing on one to trade.
  • Grenades bounce and go off after two seconds. Blasts hurt anyone nearby, including you.
  • Health packs heal 50. Pickups come back after a while.
  • A knocked out soldier bursts into a puff of stars and returns three seconds later, briefly protected, far from enemies.

Scoring

Every knockout scores 1 point. Knocking yourself out costs a point in free for all. Choose Free for all or Teams (two teams by seat, no friendly fire), a score to win of 10, 20 or 30, and a time limit of 3, 5 or 8 minutes. When time runs out, the most knockouts wins and a tie is shared.

Tips

  • Keep moving: a flying soldier is hard to hit.
  • Hurt? Duck into a tunnel and let your health come back.
  • Grenades bounce off walls, so lob them over cover.
  • The punch is quick and strong when someone gets close.

Why it’s fun

Matches are fast and never the same twice. Warm up against the computer, then settle it with nine friends.
