  • 2–4 players
  • Two buttons per player (Turn, Go / tap to fire), or A D, J L (or arrows), Z C, B M
  • Party games

Tiny tanks, bouncing shells, one maze. Tank Ricochet is a free 2 player tank game on one phone or online. Drive through a maze and bank shells off the walls. Up to 4 players, or CPU tanks.

How to play

Tank Ricochet is a 2 player game for one phone on a table, and it plays just as well online. Every player drives a tiny tank in a maze. Shells bounce off the walls, so a shot can come round a corner, and it can hit anyone: your rivals, or you. The last tank standing wins the round.

Each player has two big buttons on the edge of the screen nearest their tank’s home corner:

  • Turn: hold it and your tank spins clockwise on the spot.
  • Go: hold it to drive forward. Tap it quickly to fire a shell.

Hold both to drive in a curve. Tanks slide along walls instead of getting stuck. With two players each of you gets a whole edge; with three or four, the edges are shared. Everyone plays at once.

On a computer, use the keyboard: A and D for Red, J and L (or the arrow keys) for Blue, Z and C for Yellow, B and M for Green. The first key turns, the second drives and fires. Online, your phone shows the whole arena and just your own two big buttons.

Pick 2, 3 or 4 players and how many rounds win the match: 3, 5 or 7. Tap a seat to hand it to a CPU tank. Online, if a friend leaves, the computer takes over their tank.

Rules

  • A new maze is drawn every round. It always connects every corner, and the tanks start in corners far apart.
  • Each tank can have four shells out at once. A shell bounces up to six times and lasts about six seconds, then fizzles.
  • A shell destroys the first tank it touches, including the one that fired it, once it has left the barrel. Two shells that meet knock each other out.
  • When only one tank is left, the round runs on for a moment so stray shells can still land. If they get the last tank too, nobody scores.
  • A round that reaches 90 seconds is a draw. The first player to the chosen number of round wins takes the match.

Tips

  • Bank your shots. A shell aimed at a wall next to a corner will often find a tank hiding behind it.
  • Count your shots. The dots on your Go button show how many shells you have left.
  • Don’t fire straight into a nearby wall: the shell comes right back at you.
  • Keep moving when shells are flying. A tank that drives across a shell’s path is much harder to hit.
  • CPU tanks hunt you through the maze and like a clever bounce, but they hesitate before they fire.

Why it’s fun

Rounds last seconds, every maze is new, and the best moments come from shots nobody planned. Play first to five on one phone, or send a link and battle from your own sofas.
